How to get from Nice to Menton

Menton is one of the prettiest towns on the French Riviera and makes a perfect day trip from Nice. Italian and French influence mingle in this citrus colored town on the French and Italian border. Even in October when we visited the weather was still pleasant and warm enough for a swim in the afternoon at the pebbled Sablettes Beach. In this guide we’ll share how to get from Nice to Menton.

By Train:

The train is the best and easiest option to get from Nice to Menton. The train from Nice Ville to Menton takes about 36 minutes and costs €6.40 per person each way. There are trains throughout the day every 10 to 30 minutes. From the train station it is only a 15 minute walk to old town and the beach.

By Bus:

While you can take the bus from Nice to Menton it is not the recommended option. The #600 bus leaves from Nice (Square Normandie Niemen) every 10 to 15 minutes and arrives in Menton at Gare Routière just around the corner from the train station. The bus stops in various other towns along the coast including Menton and takes a little over an hour so twice as long as the train. A ticket costs €2.50 each way and can be purchased with cash from the driver.

By Car:

I wouldn’t rent a car specifically for the trip, but if you already have a car driving to Menton is easy from Nice and only takes about 30 minutes depending on traffic. There are a few options for parking near tourist areas like the marina and Sablettes beach.
